FIFA 21: Best 4.5-Star Teams to Play With

7 months ago 236

The dream of playing in Europe attracts the best talent from around the world, so you can expect a list of the best 4.5-star teams to contain household names stacked with history. Some of the teams have tasted European glory in the not too distant past, and the others are not far behind.

The final hurdle for the teams below may be the most difficult, though, as they seek to establish themselves amongst the world’s best clubs. The steaks are high, and so are the finances involved, to be welcomed into the prestigious 5-star bracket. Investments must be shrewd, and patience will be needed, but the potential is there to dominate on both the domestic and continental stage.

Tottenham Hotspur (4.5 Stars), Overall: 82

Attack: 89
Midfield: 82
Defence: 82
Total: 82
Best Players: Harry Kane (89 OVR), Heung Min Son (89 OVR), Hugo Lloris (87 OVR)

The return of Gareth Bale to Tottenham Hotspur last summer brought back to light the poor management of finances when he was sold for £90 million in 2013. However, though none of the signings made with the ‘Bale money’ hit the ground running, Spurs haven’t finished outside the top-six in the Premier League since the 2008/09 season. On the flip side, their last trophy was the League Cup in the 2007/08 season.

Manager José Mourinho is a decisive character, and his résumé cannot be overlooked. His impact on Harry Kane has been remarkable, and the partnership that Kane has with Heung Min Son this season has been nothing short of breathtaking. Notable new signings Gareth Bale, Sergio Reguilón, Matt Doherty, and Pierre-Emile Højbjerg have been a mixed bag, and questions are still being asked of Tottenham’s legitimacy as a title contender.

Harry Kane’s lack of pace, 69 sprint speed and 66 acceleration, make him a more suited CF than an ST in FIFA 21. His distribution and stuttered entry into the box, combined with the pace of Son and Steven Bergwijn on the wings, make for a devastating attack.

Spurs’ most notable assets for the future include Tanguy Ndombélé, with 88 potential, the aforementioned Bergwijn, and Giovani Lo Celso – who both have 87 potential.

Borussia Dortmund (4.5 Stars), Overall: 82

Attack: 86
Midfield: 83
Defence: 81
Total: 82
Best Players: Mats Hummels (87 OVR), Jadon Sancho (86 OVR), Erling Håland (86 OVR)

Borussia Dortmund won back to back Bundesliga titles in 2011 and 2012, but have been bested by Bayern Munich ever since. Outside of Germany, Dortmund haven’t won a trophy this millennium. The closest they came was losing in the 2012/13 Champions League final to none other than Bayern Munich.

BVB won the race to sign Norwegian sensation Erling Håland in 2020, and he has not disappointed, scoring 43 goals in just 43 games. Partnering Håland in the Dortmund attack is winger Jadon Sancho, who burst onto the scene in the 2018/19 season with 12 goals and 18 assists in the Bundesliga alone. The experienced Marco Reus and the young trio of Jude Bellingham, Reinier, and Giovanni Reyna add to the weight of talent in the Dortmund squad.

Borussia Dortmund have two players that have a 92 potential rating in Håland and Sancho. Bellingham and Reyna have 88 potential, whilst Julian Brandt is just behind with 87.

The 84 sprint speed and 84 potential of centre back Manuel Akanji, and the 92 strength and 86 potential of fellow centre back Dan-Axel Zagadou, exhibit the depth of young talent in this Dortmund team.

Manchester United (4.5 Stars), Overall: 82

Attack: 83
Midfield: 82
Defence: 81
Total: 82
Best Players: Bruno Fernandes (88 OVR), Paul Pogba (86 OVR), David De Gea (86 OVR)

There are few teams that are more of a household name throughout the world of football than Manchester United. Their 38 trophies in 26 years under Sir Alex Ferguson was remarkable, and understandably, the next person in the hot seat was set unachievable expectations. From his retirement in 2013, the club has won the 2016 FA Cup, 2017 League Cup, 2017 Europa League, and two Community Shields.

Manchester United have been rejuvenated under the charismatic performances of Bruno Fernandes since he joined from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020. Through 59 games, the attacking midfielder has 34 goals and 21 assists to his name. Young wingers Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood are players for both now and the future, whilse the experience of recent signing Edinson Cavani has provided a veteran presence up front that has proven valuable.

Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford both have 91 potential on FIFA 21. New signing Donny van de Beek has 89 potential, but the notable player to pick out may be Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

The right back has 88 potential, with his 90 sliding tackle and 88 sprint speed making him an essential player for the future. Where the squad may need strengthening is at the centre back position, with a viable partnered needed for the ever-questioned Harry Maguire.

Inter Milan (4.5 Stars), Overall: 82

Attack: 83
Midfield: 81
Defence: 81
Total: 82
Best Players: Samir Handanovič (87 OVR), Romelu Lukaku (86 OVR), Milan Škriniar (85 OVR)

The 18-time Serie A champions have struggled in the past decade to reach the heights of their glorified predecessors. However, optimism in the air. Last season, Inter finished one point behind league champions Juventus and, at the time of writing, have climbed four points clear of rivals AC Milan to top the league.

Much of Inter’s current success can be attributed to the attacking duo of Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku. The duo scored 55 goals between them last season and are set to eclipse that total this season, with 38 goals combined to date. Recent signings Achraf Hakimi and Nicolò Barella have strengthened the midfield whilst young centre back Alessandro Bastoni could be a long-term cornerstone in defence.

Slovakian centre back Milan Škriniar and Lautaro Martinez both have 89 potential, which is the highest at the club on FIFA 21. Recent signing Achraf Hakimi and Nicolò Barella both have 88 potential.

Hakimi’s 95 sprint speed and 93 acceleration is unmatched in the squad, and there is potential to bring a left-sided counterpart to complement the right midfielder. Romelu Lukaku, although seemingly a seasoned player, is still only 27-years-old. His 95 strength, 88 finishing, and 84 sprint speed showcase the epitome of a power striker.

Chelsea (4.5 Stars), Overall: 82

Attack: 80
Midfield: 84
Defence: 80
Total: 82
Best Players: N’Golo Kanté (88 OVR), Hakim Ziyech (85 OVR), Thiago Silva (85 OVR)

Since Roman Abramovich bought Chelsea in 2003, they have won more trophies than any other English club. His financial backing has allowed Chelsea to bring in top talent for almost 20 years. However, since winning the Premier League title in 2016/17, they have been an average of nearly 30 points behind the winners across the three full seasons.

Amidst a pandemic, Chelsea still spent over £220 million in the summer of 2020. Most notably, they brought in German duo Kai Havertz and Timo Werner. Both have struggled since the move, though, with Havertz scoring one goal in 18 league games whilst Werner has five goals and eight assists from 24 league games.

N’Golo Kanté is Chelsea’s best player on FIFA 21. At 29-years-old, his 96 stamina, 92 reactions, and 91 interceptions make him a crucial part of the midfield.

The 92 potential of Kai Havertz stands out too, but three players in Mason Mount, Timo Werner, and Christian Pulisic all have 87 potential. Chelsea’s squad and potential extend to their loan players as well, with five players having over 80 potential in that group too.
