FIFA 21: Best 3-Star Teams to Play With

7 months ago 184

FIFA 21 boasts a myriad of three-star teams, 116 to be exact. Though these teams may not contain household name players, the likes of which will be battling it out for footballs biggest prizes, these three-star teams contain lots of potential, intrigue, and under the radar assets.

Using a team with a three-star rating in any game mode requires a level of skill management, with you needing to get the best out of your players without the wealth of depth and talent that you have at your disposal when using a four or five-star team.

Al Nassr (3 Stars), Overall: 70

Attack: 79
Midfield: 70
Defence: 68
Overall: 70
Best Players: Abderrazak Hamdallah (79 OVR), Nordin Amrabat (78 OVR), Petros (78 OVR)

The nine-time Saudi Arabian league champions Al Nassr FC are the second best team in Saudi Arabia on FIFA 21, just behind Al Hilal. After winning the league in 2018/19, they were bested by Al Hilal last season. However, this season they are struggling, only being able to hover around mid-table at the time of writing.

In terms of personnel, the standout is their highest-rated player, the centre forward Abderrazak Hamdallah. His absence due to injury has contributed to his team’s lack of success this season, only playing six Professional League games out of a possible 17, to score a single scoring just twice to date.

When playing with Al Nassr, Hamdallah provides a target man with the Power Header trait. Petros, with 90 stamina, provides a workhorse in the middle of the park, and with a powerful Nordin Amrabat as a wide player, they are a potent outfit. As a longer term investment, Al Nassr don’t have any players with a potential of over 80, but Khalid Al Ghannam comes just shy with 79 POT.

Club Universidad Nacional (3 Stars), Overall: 70

Attack: 77
Midfield: 70
Defence: 70
Overall: 70
Best Players: Juan Dinenno (77 OVR), Alfredo Talavera (76 OVR), Facundo Waller (75 OVR)

Without a trophy in ten seasons, Club Universidad Nacional (UNAM) are eager to get back to the top of both the Apertura and the Clausura leagues. Even though they haven’t been successful in recent years, they are still grouped amongst the four best teams in Mexico, known as the Cuatro Grandes, along with rivals Club América, Cruz Azul, and Guadalajara.

UNAM Pumas’ main attacking threat is 26-year-old centre forward Juan Dinenno, who made the move to Mexico City from Colombian outfit Deportivo Cali in January 2020. Since joining, Dinenno has scored 17 goals in 34 appearances so far. The experienced goalkeeper Alfredo Talavera and the exciting young Uruguayan winger Facundo Waller join Dinenno as UNAM Pumas’ biggest assets.

The team is full of potential, with six players having a potential rating of 80 or higher. They would be a solid long-term project, even offering something different to European competition, in that they have two domestic leagues.

Los Angeles FC (3 Stars), Overall: 70

Attack: 75
Midfield: 69
Defence: 67
Overall: 70
Best Players: Carlos Vela (83 OVR), Diego Rossi (76 OVR), Eduard Atuesta (73 OVR)

Los Angeles Football Club’s success is limited to a Supporters’ Shield in 2019, awarded for having the highest points total at the end of the MLS regular season. Unfortunately, their success didn’t continue into the playoffs, where they lost in the Conference Final to another team on this list, the Seattle Sounders.

The lethal pairing of Carlos Vela and Diego Rossi contain the main threat and strength of LAFC’s team in FIFA 21. In their Shield-winning season of 2019, Carlos Vela scored 38 goals in 36 appearances, whilst last season, Rossi led the team in goals with 18 in 26 games.

Though Carlos Vela is 31-years-old with dynamic potential on FIFA 21, he may still have a few years left at the top of his game. Their young assets include Diego Rossi, who is 22-years-old, 21-year-old Diego Palacios, and 23-year-old Eduard Atuesta – all of whom have at least an 80 POT rating. LAFC offers you a strong base for a Career Mode in which you aim to win it all in the MLS.

Seattle Sounders (3 Stars) Overall: 70

Attack: 73
Midfield: 72
Defence: 68
Overall: 70
Best Players: Nicolás Lodeiro (80 OVR), Raúl Ruidíaz (79 OVR), Yeimar Gómez Andrade (76 OVR)

Finalists in the MLS Cup in four of the last five years, the Seattle Sounders are amid their most successful league run of their short history. Runners-up in 2020 and winners in 2019, the Sounders will be looking to reach the final again this season. Beyond the players on the pitch, their fans are also a factor, with the club boasting the second-highest average attendance – just behind Atlanta United FC – with 40,247.

The loan of hometown winger Jordan Morris to Swansea may leave a gap in Seattle’s attack this season. Still, they have plenty of firepower available from their top goalscorer of last season, Raúl Ruidías, as well as Uruguayan veteran Nicolás Lodeiro.

When playing with the Sounders, the 86 sprint speed and 83 finishing of Ruidías will be a focal point. Playing just behind him in a CAM role is Nicolás Lodeiro, who is Seattle’s highest-rated player in FIFA 21. The other notable player is centre back Yeimar Gómez Andrade, who boasts 93 strength and 91 aggression.

Kawasaki Frontale (3 Stars) Overall: 70

Attack: 73
Midfield: 70
Defence: 70
Overall: 70
Best Players: Akihiro Ienaga (73 OVR), Leandro Damião (73 OVR), Yu Kobayashi (73 OVR)

Kawasaki Frontale did the double last season, winning the J1 League and Emperor’s Cup for the first time in their history. As per league rules, the teams are allowed up to four foreign players; Kawasaki Frontale have opted for a predominantly Brazilian presence, led by veteran Leandro Damião.

The joint top scorers for Frontale last season were left winger Kaoru Mitoma and centre forward Yu Kobayashi, with both players netting 18 goals each. Damião was just behind with 14 goals. The notable transfer for this season is Brazilian João Schmidt, who came on a free transfer.

On FIFA 21, both Mitoma and Kobayashi are agile players with 83 and 85 agility ratings, respectively. Leandro Damião provides the team with a target man, being a viable option in the role thanks to his with 89 strength and the Power Header trait. In terms of potential, Mitoma and midfielder Ao Tanaka share the highest potential ratings in the team at 77 POT.
